I have been a psychotherapist in Private Practice since 1980 and I've been Staff Counselor at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies for 13 years.
I sit on the Executive Committee of the Trauma Studies Program of the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy and teach their group process module.
Since 1980, I have developed an expertise in the treatment of Trauma and have written two books on the topic. My latest book Healing from Post Traumatic Stress: A workbook for Recovery, McGrawHill, 2007 exemplifies the way I think and work.
Although I am now a New Yorker, I was born in France, grew up in Central America and have lived in many different states and countries. Although moving around was difficult at the time, it allowed me to experience different cultures, ethnic backgrounds and spiritual orientations. This understanding is helpful in my work with my clients as it enables me to understand and put into context each person’s particular background and way of viewing the world.
I have been a student of Meditation for the past 20 years and I am a certified Reiki practitioner.
In addition to providing psychotherapy to individuals and couples, I lead yearly Vision Quests and Wilderness Retreats, run a variety of workshops and teach clinicians how to use a multi-modal approach in their practices.
I have taught in several universities and conducted workshops and trainings at conferences, in agencies and in organizations such as the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies and the New York Open Center.
